Yes I have a 98 ranger 4 cylinder 2wd automatic and almost every time I hit a bump or try to take off quick my trucks acts like its in neutral then jerks and starts driving like normal. I think it's the shifter cable how to I adjust that???

Could also be torque converter lock(TCC) solenoid wiring is loose, check that on the side of the transmission.

Google: Ford column shift problem

All Ford trucks use the same type of shifter and all can have this loose shifter problem, so Ranger to F-350 doesn't matter there are lots of How-to out there to see what your issue might be
