Changed my clutch this weekend, and when taking apart the manual t-case linkage, this happened. As I pulled out that huge main bolt in the linkage, a thin plastic looking bushing/sleeve came out with it, and basically disintegrated in my hand. I had to put it back together of course, so I just put the bolt in without that sleeve. Is that an important piece? If so, what is it called?

Anyone have any ideas? I phoned Ford, they had no idea, and I actually had to explain to the parts person what a manual transfer case was... :icon_confused:. I then phoned a parts store he recommended, again no idea. However the girl I talked to said she asked someone who worked at Ford, and he said it was a "clutch slave rod" or something like that. Which I am very unsure about, b/c all my research on that says it attached to the clutch pedal. Which is nowhere near where I am talking about :icon_rofl:.

I know what your talking about, its a bushing, its plastic and looks alot like a anti short bushing in electrical

its bascily there to keep metal to metal binding and cruding up solid....

might try the "help" section in the auto parts kinda long shot

what to call it to ford?.....uhhhhh

mind my spelling its friday nite:beer::beer::beer::beer::headbang::beer::beer::icon_hornsup:

Exactly. I sure wish the Ford dealer had someone who was more familiar with Rangers. I wonder if there is something I could put in its place to accomplish the same function?

I think your outta luck. I just had one of the parts guys here at my dealership look up the shifter and that bushing is not listed separately. It's part of the entire shifter assembly.

Would large nylon washers (possibly stacked) perform the same function? Just a thought...

Perhaps if they were thin enough... the bushing fits over top of the big bolt in the linkage, which goes through a hole in the linkage

go to the hardware store with some measurements, they usually have nylon bushings, it's just plastic, hack at it with a utility knife or rasp and make it fit... even easier if you have a metal lathe.

yeah i'm searching for one of these as well, most likely, i'll end up afro-engineering something

I don't like it ethier. But take a look at America's standing.America is distress, and is in a dire need of reform.

Not trying to hijack the thread or start an arguement, but I think that if you knew what that meant you'd understand how wrong of a situation you are using it in.... Anyways, who on TRS is going to see that and get engaged to make a change? You're trying to speak to the wrong crowd IMO.

P.S. stay Amur-kin.... :D I think that's the proper phonic spelling of it.
