I have this posted in F150 forums also

1995 f150 with 300 M5OD This morning on the way to work I was stoped at a traffic light. When the light turned gree I put in first and nothing. Put in second and nothing. Put it in third and was able to slowly take off. Luckily I didnt have to stop till I got to work. In the parking lot I was able to put in in first and move. On way home I had first but no second for the first few lights then I had no first or second. I got truck home and have first again, still no second. Pulled the shifter out and it looks fine and couldnt see anything that jumps out at you. I did notice the pin on the left side of hole where the stick goes in is loose. could this be the problem?

Does it 'feel' like it's going into gear when you move the shifter?

If so, I'd suspect a clutch with some slipping problems.....

It feel like it is. It works fine in 3 and 4. Just came back in. I got it in second but it is farther back than normal. shifter almost hits seat
