I have a 94 Ranger with a 5 speed, and I believe the shift knob is glued on. I want to put a custom shift knob on it. Does anyone know the shaft diameter? I would like to make sure it’s going to fit before removal

I don't know the value off hand but I know that I bought this shifter extension to correct for my body lift and this ball. Unfortunately to use either, I needed to grind down (reduce it's diameter) the knurled area on my shifter lever to use the 12mm x 1.25mm die to add threads.
The threads on my extension are 12mm x 1.25mm and this ball kit supplied that value also.
The shift lever is easy to remove and it was simple to change the end dimension and add threads. You will need something to grind/cut with and a die to thread it.

The OEM shift knob is just a very tight fit over splines on the shaft. Heat may soften it enough to pull it off.
I just used a hack saw to remove one at the junk yard last week. Once I had a good cut through the plastic, I opened the gap with a screw driver and slid it off. No glue.

I used a channel locks.. and just hit it from the bottom.. there was no set screw so a few bangs n it was off

heat gun or hair dryer works well get it nice and warm , it will pull right off.

upgrade to a hurst shifter and get 3/8” threads for nearly any knob. its coarse thread, 16 tpi maybe? Hard to remember all the thread counts for common bolt sizes.
