Shift knob mounting ideas?

I was thinking hard about one from this guy until I found this wood knob.

This project has morphed into a wood finishing project. I could have been done quite a while ago if I didn’t want to experiment with tung.

This is where I’m stopping with this particular piece of wood. The tung definitely makes the grain pop more defined and definitely could be the final finish. The polyurethane on top makes much more of a 3D effect to the grain. I put on and sanded off probably 8 coats learning how to make it perfect enough. There’s still some sanding lines showing thru from sanding on the drill, and there’s a bit of a bald spot on top from the poly dripping down the knob, but I’m getting there.

Could drill and tap the knob for set screws.
both of these are held on by 3 m4x.7 set screws with blue locktite.

One of these days I can. I must currently be able to store all my tools in my toolbox or a portion of a 2.5’x3’ closet.
