had a local performance garage install a shift kit , 3- 4 solenoid, and modulator into my tranny. after the first time i tryed taking it home it would redline the hell outta first gear and the only way it would shift is if you floored it. I took it back and the mechanic said he thinks the shift kit is faulty. He installed a diff brand shift kit and its still doing the same thing. Hes trying to tell me there is air in the lines and it will work its way out. also when he changed my fluid he put in amsoil full synthetic atf. could that be my problem?

I don't see anything wrong with either of those man. I guess if it's not ford's trans fluid (Dexron) it could be a problem...I don't honestly know.

Frankly, they need to fix it if you ask me. That's not right to give a customer something that doesn't work for them.

If it's taking forever to shift (redline) then it sounds to me like it isn't full or isn't building pressure like it should. They may have installed it wrong.

Why did you install it? There wasnt anything wrong with the trans right?

BTW, Shift kits are great because they are better for the trans but if they are too strong for the street, I've had bad results with that! I hope you get it figured out...If I remember right, you were just dealing with this not too long ago?

i had the motor redone a bit and i decided to get some work done to the tranny. before all of this it shifted fine no problems. i should have left it alone. but anyways crusing threw town it will drag 1st gear out till it redlines it will then shift after a couple seconds when i push the pedal close to the floor. once it shifts it runs good and goes threw the rest of the gears smoothly.

decided to clean my motor down while my truck sits and noticed that the knuckle head at the garage hooked up my vacuum lines wrong. luckily i remember the way they were and re hooked everything up. took it for a drive and the thing shifts like a son of a bitch. so this whole time my problem has been mixed up vaccuum lines.

Wow....lol. That is great news!

I cant really see where he would of put them. What did he mix up? The one that goes down to the trans seems pretty self explanatory.
