shift kit problems

1989 range 2.9 a4ld.



had a garage install a vac modulator, 3-4 solenoid, and shift kit the other day in my truck. now the problem is it will only shift at wot if im just cruising down the road it will stay in the same gear and redline. can anyone tell my whats goin on with it.

I would just take it back to the shop. Perhaps they didn't put the TV cable back on?

assuming everything was installed correctly, you may want to adjust the bands, and then if that doesnt help, you may have to clean the Governor on the back in the extension housing.

if your gonna keep that truck for a while, just rip out that trans and go for a m5od swap, i burned up 3 a4ld before i smartened up ( and got sick of swapping trans) and did the manual swap

yea im goin to take it back to the shop tomorrow i just wanted to see if it was something simple that i could adjust on my own.

the vacuum modulator could cause that if its not adjusted right, assuming its an adjustable type

took it to the garage today he said hes going to play around with the modulator. anyways is it bad to run amsoil atf in the a4ld, because thats what the mechanic put it.

ask if its mercon approved, if so its ok to run.
