I have a 94 Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0L. The cable shift cable came off to day when I was leaving work. It came off at the fire wall where the cable connects to the ball on the bracket. I pulled the cable to inspect that end of the cable good and it seems to me that there should be a clip that holds the cable on to the ball ( like a shock does on a hatch back ). The cable is still good other than that so it appears. D

Does anyone know if that end of the cable has a metal insert in it or does the clip just hold it on to the ball. I rigged it to get me to work tomorrow and I have a wedding on saturday so I am stuck working on it on sunday. If anyone has a picture or has had this issue or even knows a idea to make it work I would greatly appreciate it. I just dont see paying $90 for a new cable when this one appears to be just fine.

Thanks for your help in advance.
