Alright, thanks for the advice, guys. My coworker hasn't replied to me since this morning (we both had off today), so I'm not sure if I'll be able to replace it yet this afternoon. If he gets ahold of me again, though, I think we're going to try the U-Joints. I'll keep you updated on whether that fixes it.

I found our measurements of the axle play, maybe you guys know what tolerance should be. On the right side, we got 0.014", while on the left side we got 0.019". It really isn't a lot, but we thought it might still have something to do with the vibration. I believe we'll be doing the U-Joints after work tomorrow, so I'll give an update then.

I don't know the specs, but less than .020 doesn't sound out of whack.

check your shocks for leaks or breakage at the frame, look at the drive shaft to see if it is missing a weight for balance, some times there spot welded crappy and come off, check your trans mount to see if it has seperated, is there vibration in the steering wheel, also changing one tire that you think may be bad is not definitive test, your squeak may be a leaf spring, check the tires for cupping that will indicate bad shocks, witch act up at higher speeds

U joints are about 15 bux there should be two. If one runs dry u will lose flexibility and it can vibrate. Don't worry about the truck pulling when u swapped tires, sounds like it was caused by the tire. Swap back and it doesn't pull, problem solved.

i had a 92 ranger with alot of play in the rear end but no vbrations. even though if i rocked the bed i could hear the axles sliding in and out making a clunk noise. no vibrations at all though. was a very smooth driver. so i doubt thats it. id focus on wheel balance. and ujoints, also have you checked for dents in the drivesahft? they can make a driveshaft off balance.

Your guys' advice has helped tremendously. I think it's safe to take this thread out of the Urgent group, as the problem has been fixed. After what felt like forever, both u-joints are replaced and both the vibration AND squeak are gone! I've learned my lesson with parts stores as well; shop around.

It turns out the rear u-joint was the one causing the squeaking, and likely the vibrating. When we got one bearing off, there were literally three rollers left in it, and the rollers in another bearing on the front looked like they were smashed in. I'll try to post pictures when I get the chance. Since one poster said his both went out, at 66k and 120k, I figured I should do them both and kill two stones with one bird, and since I did, it rides like a dream. Normal highway speeds are perfect (though it still does complain a little at 80; probably a bit of the four-cylinder not wanting to go that fast, maybe partly due to tires).

I have zero reservations about driving up to the Twin Cities next week thanks to your guys' advice and my coworker's willingness to help me do the work. Thanks a ton.
