shaft length

sorry but not unless you have fx4 with the 31 spline axle. but the good news is that a 8.8 and a 7.5 have a the same 28 spline if there from about the same year. I hope this helps you.

Sorry I miss read your post. I a idiot but I would say no because the rangers are not that I noticed but again remeber I cant find my ass with both hands today.

With regards to the EXPLORER 8.8 axle, not the ranger, not the fx4, just the spring-under-axle ford explorer.
What I'm getting at is: are the passenger side and driver side axle shafts the same length? If a person wanted to keep a spare(s) around do you have to have two shafts, or just one?

Yes indeedy, they are differnent lengths

Fortunately it's rare to break one, yet they are plentiful in wrecking yards.

jeeper buddy of mine broke one on 37s with a mini spool..

86

interesting. I will have 36"s one day, and a mini spool, and now that the 5.0L is vrooming like it should. anything in possibly. I think i'll just wait for a broken shaft to find me before I go hunting down spares.... My life is busy enough without chaseing after parts I 'might' need.

the thing i found with busting those shafts, it fawks up the diff pretty bad too.

i have even seen failed detroits in the 8.8 and 9 in axles as well, at least more then 60's/14bolts.

the arb is doomed if you rip a shaft.:fie: total bummer.

they snap easier....so they can live longer. no comparing those shafts..

You seen the NEWER-style 8.8 ARBs blowing from a busted shaft? (RD-81 or RD-82)
