Ok SO I have decided I want to crank my torsion bars and 2" lift shackles for the rear on my 08 Fx4. Is the install of the shackles as easy as I think or is there anything I need to look out for.

I have access to a shop if I ask through work, I just haven't fixed anything that wasn't already broke on any of my old rigs. I figure if I figured out brakes in the past (damn those little spring clips without the proper tool in the rain) on my own this should be a piece of cake.

I just don't want to get everything apart and realize I wasn't prepared for everything. Any pointers and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Put it on a lift, put a set of axle jacks under the axle. Take out the 2 bolts in each shackle, remove the old shackles,. Install your new longer shackles, reinstall the two bolts on either side. DONE

With an '08 you should have no problems,. I had to deal with rust and siezed bolts on my '94.

Also with cranking the t-bars, I rec you do it on an alignment rack/lift. It is perfectly level and you will get a more accurate ride hieght measurement, to make sure it sits even. Plus it will need an alignment after cranking, since your toe and camber will be out of spec.

THats pretty much what i was thinking, thanks alot. Like I said I just didn't want to run into any forseeable problems. Now to order the shackles.

I'm going to crank the torsion bars on my '08 FX4 tomorrow afternoon... shackle install will come in a few months. Good luck and post up if you run in to any snags!

Let me Know how the torsion bar crank goes. I'll be doing my shackles and crank at one time. I'll try and remember a camera and take pics when I do it.
