Settle an tounge weight arguement for me...

3 750ish lbs polaris sportsmans loaded on a 1500lb 16ft car trailer.

2 loaded sideways up front one drove on the back.

My buddy is trying to say the tounge weight would be to much for a new 1/2 ton 150 on a reciever hitch. Said "it would be on the bumpstops"

Im saying my friggin ranger could take that and not be on the bumpstops.

Whos correct? Im guessing max youre looking at 700lbs tounge.

3 x 750 + 1600 = 3850. If properly loaded, tongue weight should be around 400 to 600 lbs (10% to 15%).

New F-150 can be configured with towing capacity of up to 13,900 lb, so this 3850 load is a pittance, even for a truck that does not have the towing or max tow package. iirc, the lowest tow rating of a current generation F-150 is 7000 lbs.

I figured it at 20% to be generous. But yeah lol.

All 3 quads… my ‘20 has the max payload package (required with the max tow package), and is rated to carry 2,300lbs or so. I’ve had 1800lbs in the bed and the rear was noticeably lower, but not squatted.

Ive been looking at XL/XLT ext cab 5.0 4wd 8ft beds and seen most float in around 2200lbs. Guessing a regular or extended cab without max payload is close to the crew with?
