on my 96 ranger 2.3.... sometimes the wipers come on randomly. really strange lol.. it's embarrassing when its completely sunny outside and these things are just a flapping. help plz

The wiper switch is going bad. Some have successfully cleaned the contacts. If you have to replace the switch, be careful with cheap Chinese switches. I've had one last years, another only weeks. Replacement is not difficult, but why do something twice because the part was crap.

agreed. I"ve got the same issue on my explorer. sometimes when I hit the turn signal (careful not to also hit the wiper switch), the wipers will cycle... then one day when it was HotAF, I turn the truck on and the wipers are on full speed. I had to put the switch at the position it thought it was at, then dial it back before they shut off.

I just finished installing the wiper switch on mine and nothing seems to be working at all. The wipers flicked the first time I turned the switch but then they stopped and no movement since.

When I got the truck I found an extra wiper switch sitting in the back of the seats and thought the previous owner had already swapped it out...but apparently not.

Is this a common problem with these trucks or just that out of millions made a few thousand defects can be expected?
