Hey guys. Parking brake was never functioning in my truck. I keep redoing the adjuster and it keeps failing. I think I know why now. On the rear facing pad, the side with the adjusting cable guide, there is a pin for a c clip... My truck has no pin for the c clip on either side. I'm assuming that this pin is attached to the backing plate, and not something that is replaceable, meaning I need to replace the "hub" that houses the wheel bearings? Thank you in advance.

pics please

EDIT:
damn, I'm batting 0 for 2 tonight.
gonna delete some stuff then get some sleep.

No this c clip is up higher on the shoe. Let me see give me a moment and I'll post a pic

The lever pin is pressed into the shoe. New shoes come with the pin.

I'm on my phone, hopefully this is the screen shot with the clip/pin circled.

@UncleGump
Ok.... What does this c clip clip to the brake shoe? What's the function cus I don't understand now.

That clip you circled holds the pin that holds the lever for the emergency/parking brake cable to hook to.

Generic picture, but shows that pin and lever.

Wait.... What...... My parking brake leave hooks into the top of the shoe.... There is no hole for a pin....

correct, some versions use a hook on the lever to act as the pivot point at the shoe. I think I've only seen 1 of those.
others use a pin there, with a wavy washer and the clip.

10 inch brakes use the pin for the lever.

9 inch brakes the lever has a hook that hooks onto the brake shoe.

That pin is pressed into the secondary brake shoe. The pin holds the park brake lever. The lever is held taunt with a wavy washer and the clip provides a pivot for the park brake lever. The lever has a park brake strut that goes between the lever and primary shoe. There is also an anti rattle spring on the primary shoe side of the strut to prevent the strut from rattling.

I think you should take detailed pictures of your brakes so they can be critique.

I think I should take some pics of my brakes lol. Give me a moment and I'll tear into them

Here we go, when I bought the truck the rear brakes didn't work at all. When opened them I was greeted by the self adjusting cable and adjusting lever falling on the ground.. on both sides. So all new springs and brake hardware and adjusting bits on both sides. With the drum off press a little on the parking brake to ensure the self adjusting works. Was fine. So final adjustment and put them back together. After a week no more parking brake. Re do then both. After a week no more parking brake. That was about two weeks ago. Each time I open them the adjusting parks on lose. No idea what I'm doing wrong. That's when I noticed that super pin in schematics.

Do your drums have fins? If so those are 9 inch drums.

Also... you have 9 inch brakes. They don't have the pin you've been referring to.
