second fuel tank

anyone have experience with installing a second fuel tank? I have an 87 super cab 5 spd and the stock fuel tank is only 14.5 gallons (i think), meaning i can only go about 200 miles, leaving 2.5 gallons in the tank.

if anyone has any experience with installing a second fuel tank, it would be very much appreciated, as i am getting tired of filling up so often. I can't understand why a pickup would be built with such a small tank, nowdays the only thing with that capacity is a prius or a ricer!

I know this is not exactly what you where looking for but my 88 has a 17 gallon tank. Is it possible to swap to a larger tank i would think only diff would be the tank straps,but check a junk yard near you i have seen a few there. there is a switich that goes next to the headlight switch (to the right of it) there is a hole there for it. it may or may not be wired for it (i am not sure if you can add a switch and tank and go or not) not sure of the tank part at all though. I hope i helped some. If i see another in the yard ill pm you and get pics of what i see.
