I have heard several things, Explorer -headrest issue, Mustang, bolt pattern to the floor/rails, Escape (?).

My quick question is which one is the preferred if you can't get some out of a regular ranger? Any certain year models? There is a nice sized pick and pull close to me I want to get some new seats soon as mine are worn out.

Thanks and sorry for the over asked question!

I'm wondering about seats two- there's a million threads on seats but none of em seem to have the information im looking for. trouble is, i dont know what information im looking for. I found some leather miata bucket seats in my area though im gonna go get them tommorow and make them work somehow haha.

Yeah The posts never seem to close. Most never say 'these worked great' (or not). I think most can be made to work. Size is what matters. When I go looking Probably get a newer 60/40. Or buckets that have a thin back. I am 6'1" in a reg cab...

Exactly lol. I haven't been able to find one that says what year models from what is compatible, or even a place to buy new actual ranger seats. Good luck with the Miata seats mojo.... let me know how those work out for you! I'll post what I end up finding and working with when I do.

Success with seat!

I'm going to post my results. I have a 96 Ranger regular cab. Found a very good passenger seat in a 1999 XLT extra cab. I looked long and hard to find a nice seat. First problem, the rails were riveted to the seat. It took me three drills and a dremel, and probably four hours to get the rails off. Second problem, what was left on the seat was too short to mount my old rails. So I took part of the new seat rail so I could mount my old hardware. Got the seat in, function is okay. It is just tall with the extra inch and a half rail. Sometime soon, I will go see my welder. Thinking about this, a piece of angle iron attached to the seat would extend it for mounting. Although, spot welding the angle iron the the easiest.

I am happy with the new seat. Took the middle seat belt and wrapped around drivers buckle and right hinge so now you can buckle one-handed. Now I need to make or find a console. All the consoles I saw in the junkyards were junk.

New center console

Since the consoles at the junkyard were awful. I decided to make something. Cost was around $10 in materials that I had to buy. A lot of the material was just laying around. The box is around 12 inches tall. Plenty of storage with a concealed pocket. Screwed a small 2x4 to the floor then screwed the box to the 2x4. The deluxe large cup holder was nixed because, "that is the perfect place for a pocketbook".

Would anyone be interested in buying one of these? If there is an interest I could probably do 1 for $60. Size is 6"wide, 18" long, about 12" tall. If so I will list as an item for sale.
