have had my 1994 Ford Ranger with extra cab for a while and the seats are getting worn. I've been reading up a lot on changing the 60/40 to 40/40 seats so I'm going to do that in the mean time. My question is what year exploder can i take the center console out and put in the ranger? Gonna probably get the short console. Do I need to add any extra bolts or anything to install it in? Or do you guys just usually just leave it there? Also what year seats could I put in the 1994 if I were to use other Ranger seats or exploder seats?

Thanks,
-Spike

I recently did this conversion to my 94 ext cab manual trans. If you run into any problems send me a message and I'll try to help. Since then, I've put in racing seats which taught me that with a little bit of fabrication, ANY seats can be put in. I just had the new seats welded to the original brackets then bolted em back in.

Also, just my opinion, i found that my truck looked insanely "clean cut" and more "spacey" without a console. I ended up just putting a small plastic console i paid $3.00 for between the seats. Ill try to post some pics of it this weekend.

good luck and like i said, if you think i can help, message me.

wow I should do this for my truck. Maybe I'll do it for a winter project. My center console in my 60/40 is broken and is shut by a bungee :D But I'm kinda in the same boat is there a site to tell you what will fit. I could fabricate it like you said but I'm just looking at all the options.

Same thread:

I have a set of Eddie Bauer leather seats from an "Expedition" and when I tried to mount them they were about 2" too far out so the doors wouldn't close so I was going to scrap them and do ? If these will work by small modification of the mounting brackets I would rather use them since the cloth seats in my 2001 XLT seats are not the most comfortable.
