OK I have an extended cab XLT 1986 vintage. I just installed a set of Explorer seats in it and it was at that time I noticed it. I put my seat tracks off the original seats on the explorer seats. The drivers side seat has only about 4 inches of movement forward. This limited movement wont allow anyone to get in the back from the drivers side. Is this normal movement or do I need a new seat track? Passenger side is ok plenty of room for the biggest of people to get in it.

I cant get any picture to post in the classified section to request some seat tracks. Why I dont know. But the seat track on the drivers side is bad and I need a new track for that side. I had 60/40 seats in it so I need the drivers side tracks.

Did the seat track work before the change? I changed my driver seat with a true bucket from a B II and had to drill new mounting holes to fit my track. With the track unbolted it would pivot slightly and I got it mis-aligned the first time and the seat would move just a little.

Make sure the frame is lined up, lube with white lithium and try it again. :icon_thumby:

Its lined up properly. It did this with the original seats. I just think it should move more. There is a junk yard nearby but they dont have Rangers. But,they do have plenty of other ford parts from Mustang, escort, contour, granada etc. Do you think they will fit on the Explorer seats and then bolt to the floor without drilling?

On an '86 through early 1990 supercab thONLKY the passenger side
seat is equipped with "the "double slider" seat tracks.

You'll need the drivers side seat track from a 1990 -92 Supercab, 1990 Bronco2 or 1991-92 Explorer sport.

And even then it will not have as much total travel as your passenger side seat...

Or atleast it won't until you remove the little restraining cable you'll find screwed
between the two tracks.

You'll also need to connect the double slider link to the recliner latch on the side of the seat (presauming your donor was a 2dr "Sport", because it it wasn't the seat has the wrong recliner to actuate the seat track release)

I got a passenger seat side slider out of an 88 Ranger with split seat at a bone yard today. I bent the ends of one side to fit the drivers side holes and bolted it up. Seat now moves far enough to get in the back. Thanks for the help.
