I was just wondering if anybody knew if seats from a newer ranger, like a 2005 edge or XLT would bolt up directly to the holes in my 1998 extended cab. My seats are worn slap out and the springs squeak constantly when I'm driving. The guy that had it before me weighed about 350 lbs. and I'm thinking that might have something to do with the seats being worn out. But I really like the seats in newer rangers, and I was thinking of maybe getting some from a junk yard or something to put in my truck so it'd be a little more comfortable. I just wanted to find out for sure before I got some and found out they wouldn't work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes they will. You might have to swap to your seatbelt receivers on the new seats.

Also, with the new rangers having the rear doors on the extended cabs, the seats won't automatically slide all the way forward to allow passengers to get in easier either.

I just put a set of buckets from an 04 into a friends 94 extended cab and those are the only problems I ran into.

My 99 is a 4dr ext cab and has the feature that slides the seat forward (at least the passenger seat does).

Don't get 05+ seats if you can help it. The 04- ones are much more comfortable.

after jacking with this salvage yard for over a year cause they gave me regular cab late model seats instead of extended cab; i finally got some new seats like i had in my 04 edge in my 2001 xlt 4x4. Just be careful cause i think the ones i got were from a 2008 model and they have some sort of liquid weight sensor built into the passenger seat to measure the passenger to turn the airbags on and off. new safety features. The wiring will just be different and you'll have to unplug a couple of extensions and more than likely your airbag light will always be on.
