Hey guys I just picked up a free winch :thefinger: its an old sears 8000lb winch with the model number 691.39400. Someone cut all the wires off it and I'm looking to rewire it.
does anyone know anything about these or ever heard about it? im looking for a manual or even just some knowlege on these.
thanks:headbang:

What do you have for a pigtail coming out of it? They left something, right?

They left nothing. Vandals cut all the copper wire off for scrap.

looks like a warn spur gear winch knockoff, you may want to see if warn ever made winches for sears, if they did, you have a nice unit there and it is definitely worth fixing.

Yup that's the one. I'm going to look into that too

Found out it's a superwinch ox, if that helps

so i guess the wires were cut off the motor then so what your going to have to do is remove the cover where the old wires went into and install new heavy gauge wires with a grommet to protect them and just copy what you see inside with what the old wires were hooked up to.
Thats the best i can do without seeing it unless you post some pics.
FYI most winch motors that don't have permanent magnets are series would motors and that means your armature (the spinning part) is wired in series with the field windings (the stationary windings) sorry dude best i can do...

Thanks a ton!
It is a series wound motor, basically a prestolite starter motor. The wires were cut at the motor and at the control box where the solenoids are mounted. There's 4 wires coming out of that box, and I know 1 is the positive lead, the othe 3 is where I'm confused

Go to Yahoo and type in superwinch diagrams. The first thing that comes up is the wiring diagram. I have a clearer one somewhere on my computer but can't find it. Hope that is of some help.

Yeah I found that the superwinch hasn't changed in 30+ years! Haha I got it working this morning with a jump pack. Thanks guys!
