Seafoam?

I have a 1999 Ranger ex cab with 2.5 in it and at cruising speed, 60-65mph I have a strange vibration when either cruising or giving it more gas to increase speed. It is not tire related (I had the tires rotated and balanced to make sure). It is definitely motor related because it gets a lot worse when, if I am cruising at 60mph in 5th gear and want to increase speed to 65mph, the vibration gets worse and it seems to be felt in the rear of the cab. I had read somewhere that this can be clogged up injectors or sludge in the motor and can be corrected with seafoam. Any opinions or help on this? I have never used seafoam and know nothing about it.

Youtube the product. Lots of vids on there of how to properly use it.

Some people swear by seafoam, others think its just another snake oil. Personally I havn't tried it yet, but I do have a bottle of it sitting down in my car that needs to be used at some point... I also bought the transtune stuff to try to squeeze a bit more life outta my very unhappy-sounding automatic.

If you do a lot of highway driving then it's probably not carbon buildup (which is what seafoam helps to remove) but I wouldn't say it isn't either...

I would suggest things like checking the air filter, fuel filter, and plugs...you may be able to tell what the engine is doing by how the plugs look...if not, there is a diagram at the back of every Haynes manual...and it is a good indication of what to look for...

Other than that...try pulling codes...

And, aside from everything else...fifth gear is not the best to be accelerating from...it's simply an overdrive and reduces RPMs to save fuel...although it will accelerate, it will do so slowly...best to drop a gear and go from there...

suggest having a good look at the driveshaft u-joints, any doubt, drop the shaft and rotate the joints by hand

I would look at if your bushings are not cracked or finished

and tranny crossmember bushing
