ok so last week my buddy applied for a 35,000 dollar lone so he could buy a 05 Ford F-350 SD he found on eBay. the lone went threw Monday, him and the bank call the guy in Texas Tuesday and he wired the guy the full $35,000. The company my buddy hired to pick up the truck and ship it to him went to the address where the truck was suppose to be and all they found was a run down shack in the middle of a vacant lot. The phone number he gave my friend is now disconnected and my buddy is stuck with a $35,000 lone he has to pay off with no truck to show for it. He got SCREWED!!!

Why did he send that much money to someone he does not know and found on E-Bay??

wow. How come he didnt go down and look at the truck in person? Never buy any vehicle off ebay without see'ing it in person. I made that mistake trying to buy a quad and got screwed for 1600 dollars. Never buy any vehicle off ebay unless you can physically inspect and test drive the vehicle before handing over the money.

contact the local law enforcement and if he used paypal them also.

nope he is screwed. Since he said the money was wired there is basically no chance of him getting anything back. Ebay wont do anything if you didnt paypal the guy and the fbi I think has a website were you can report internet scams like this but its basically a lost cause trying to get the money back. Ive done all this before trying to get my 1600 dollars back but theres nothing nobody can do since the money was wired.

All legit auctions for vehicles make you pay a deposit of like 500 dollars over paypal and then have you meet up with the rest of the money and you can then take the vehicle. Sorry to say it but there isnt anything he can really do. Just hope he gets lucky in some way.

Damn, I mean no offense to your friend but, is he F'ing STUPID? Wiring that kind of cash to anyone you haven't known for a few years is insane and just asking to be ripped off. As michowski stated NEVER send more than a $100-500 deposit. I've bought a half dozen or so vehicles from Evil-bay, all went smoothly.

Got a link to the auction? This I gotta see.

Ouch!!!!! But like it has been said, buyer beware................especially on Evilbay.............

link to ebay page? whats the name of the dude.

theres a reason escrow exsists

link to ebay page? whats the name of the dude.

we tried to find the truck again on ebay but it is no longer there and the only name he gave my friend was Darrel and no last name. i unfortunately agree with Dave R this was a dumb mistake (the bad thing is hes only 20 years old). he contacted the PD and wells fargo (his bank) and hes waiting on any info from both.

keep a eye on your friend and try like hell to keep his spirits up!

it would be under completed auctions

The bank talked to the seller guy? Was the truck / title used as collateral by the bank?

Without the truck to secure the lone, the bank might demand imediate repayment of the loan.
