Screwed

How do you wire 35k to someone when you don't even know their last name?

I have purchased several vehicles off of ebay... I have to agree with Dave. You NEVER (Ever Ever EVER!!!!!) give them cash until YOU personally inspect the vehicle.

You put a deposit on stuff if the seller wants that, but it should generally never be more than $500.

Keep an eye on your friend.

one word....DUMBASS
Not trying to be rude, but I agree with all the warning's posted on auctions about sending money. I don't think they are posted to just fill in space. Sorry about his luck, but at 20yrs old maybe that money would of been better spent on an education.

Believe me i dont think hes gonna buy anything again without knowing the sellers life story.

i smell a rat.. this is wire fraud among other things the FBI will get in this as well as the local PD and prolly other law enforcement agencies.. they should be able to trace IP addresses and the accounts where it was wired and all.. now if this was somehow fone to an offshore account then the money is lost and its likely that the money and the guy is beyond the reach of the US Authorities...
i guess the buddy got a personal loan cause a real auto loan needs a vin number and all and the truck could be traced that way the bank would put a lein on the truck vin and confiscate it unless someone who was totally innocent owned it
awful lot of holes here could be a snopes future hall of famer here

What bank would loan a 20 y/o kid $35,000?

depends on the job, and the collateral you have to put up for it, I have a decent down payment on a house, and I could get ahome loan now if I wanted (gonna wait a couple more year to bulk up that down payment) and im only 20

I hear ya will. I was just turned down for a $10,000 personal loan because I have 100K available to me in Credit Card Accounts. None of which I plan on using, but that makes me high risk. Or something..:nono:
