ok, i know it sounds like i'm a complete moron... but i had heard a rattle coming from the driver side front, well i found the back brake pad had lost the clip so it was rattling around in the caliper. well i replaced the pads, and the clip. now it makes a screeching/scratching sound when i'm goin above about 20 mph. i was thinking it might be the clip contacting the rotor, but i put the clip in the right way. maybe a wheel bearing? i'm at a loss of ideas right now... any help/suggestions/ideas would be really helpful!

If you don't hear the sound below 20 mph, it's probably not the bearing...you can check the bearings though by removing the rotor and seeing if anything falls out...seriously...if the bearing is not good it has probably disintegrated into a thousand pieces and they will all fall down when you pull the rotor...and remember that there are two bearings on the hub...if you haven't changed them in a while then you might want to do that anyways...

Otherwise, it could be that the caliper is somehow sticking and keeping one of the pads against the rotor (but you would hear this always, even at low speeds)...

Remove the front tire and just spin the rotor...if it's binding, remove the caliper and put some pin grease on it...if you didn't already...and reinstall...

Not sure what else it could be...other than a loose shield...and you can tell that just by wiggling the shield without removing anything...they tend to rot out pretty good...

sweet, thanks. i took it out yesterday, and drove it around a bit... didn't make any noise, but i'll still re-grease the pins. i'm pretty the bearings are still fine, cause i had re-packed em about 2 months ago(like 3,000K miles ago). i checked the shield already, its on tight, not loose.

i'm thinking a rock had gotten stuck maybe?
