So...I picked up my "new-to-me" transmission from the wreckers today. Asked him if he had a t-case i could pick up too. He asked for the ID number on the t-case. I have a Borg Warner 4405 t-case and that's what i told him. He told me that's not the number he needs. Says there's another number on the ID tag(which is no longer on the vehicle). Anyone know if he's out to lunch on this or if there's a way to get that ID tag info??

Like i said...need the help quick. Trans has a 30 day warranty and the garage told me they wouldn't charge any extra for the t-case install if it's all done at the same time.

Other numbers i got off the t-case while looking.

44-05-000-012 <--on a sticker at the back of the t-case
XL24-7A195-CA <--on another sticker at the back of the t-case
UNS A03800 <--stamped into the back of the t-case

Thanks in advance folks

take them all! better to be over prepared than under prepared!

What these look like to me are:

Transfer case identifier
44-05-000-012 <--on a sticker at the back of the t-case

Part or engineering number for the actual case
XL24-7A195-CA <--on another sticker at the back of the t-case

Maybe a casting number, not really sure about this one
UNS A03800 <--stamped into the back of the t-case

There probably was another number on the ID tag, possible one that identifies it as a AWD or a A4WD case. Take the numbers you have to him and if he says that those aren't the right numbers either then ask him what number he needs (what information it provides), if you know that someone here might be able to get you the number you need.

Yeah...sounds good. I'll get on that tomorrow after work. :icon_thumby:

Once I have all the parts, I'm buying a universal trans cooler from the local custom parts shop.

Also going to be changing all the seals as well as the trans filter and filling it with Royal Purple.

Need this bad boy to last..and if i get that cooler on it, that should add life to it. :D

Found!!!!

Punched in the "44-05-000-012 <--on a sticker at the back of the t-case" number into Google at it brought up 2 results. First was a link to this very thread :D and the second was this one...
