school me on shocks please

The Rat's shocks are shot. What can I get for 100 $ a pair . I'm old fashioned, can I still get hydraulic shocks? TIA

Wow, you really are out of the loop.

Almost all shocks are still hydraulic, but most come gas-charged, which just keeps pressure on the fluid and keeps it from foaming up if the shock cycles quickly, which can reduce performance.


I don't know what you can get for what price in your area, as prices do tend to vary from one area to another, but I am pretty partial to KYBs. I had a set on my truck for years and it would just glide over the road. I replaced them with the NAPA house brand about two years ago, and by comparison I am very far from impressed with the NAPA ones. I feel like that is saying something since I am not that picky about things like that.

i know you can buy a few brands of ranger shocks for 30-50 each, but they are also 4x4 companys. so idk how the ride will be.

They're all the same, but the cheap ones will cost you twice as much cause they wear out twicet as fast...spend enough to get good ones.
