School Me On Fender Flares

I replaced the truck bed on my '93 with an '04 bed which did not have fender flares on it. My '93 box had the flares that bolted through the bed with the little studs/clips that slid into the backside of the flares. I don't really want to drill a bunch of holes in the '04 bed and was wondering if Ford changed the OEM flares and, if so, what year(s) I could use. I know I can get just a rear set of Bushwacker OE style flares, but they're quite pricey. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use the search feature at the top right of the page, there are many, many, threads about fender flares.

FWIW trucks with fender flares have different from fenders and bedsides than those that don't. I'm not sure of an alternative other than drilling for you to mount the factory flares. Spend enough time measuring and marking and I'm sure it will turn out just fine.

I've looked through a lot of old posts regarding fender flares and I'm still not finding much out. Did Ford change the mounting of the rear, OEM fender flares after '93 and eliminate all the holes drilled in the bedside? If so, does anyone know with what year forward? Thanks!

this doesn't answer your question but....

fender flares are lame!! take this golden opportunity to pull your front flares and fill those holes! it's a little more work, but it's free and it'll make your truck look more cooler. hell, for the price of a set of bushwacker flares, I bet you could get a pair of 2" flare fiberglass fenders... (since prerunners are the new black)

if you click on the link to my build thread in my sig, the first pic is of my 94 4x4 dd. I ditched the flares on it 1- cause i hate em and 2- to fix some nasty rust spots, and it sucked but i'd do it again in a second

rant over i guess...

If'n your set on flares, you could always use automotive seam sealer + a few screws under the fender lip to attach the ones off of your 93 bed.

Now you've got me thinking! Maybe I'll just pull the front one's off. Bushwacker's are ridiculously expensive and I don't want to drill holes in the new bed to mount the factory one's. Maybe I'll look at the Pacer flares as these are inexpensive, look pretty cool, and offer some protection.
