School me on batteries,cheap ones

So, I can go to my local AZ and ask for an old battery and get it for a discount? How much of a discount? Hmmn, I need some some odds and ends, I'll give it a try.

They sell them for 25 dollars here. They just fill them up (their cores) and see which batteries hold a charge, then resell them. It used to carry a 90 day free replacement, but I've heard they changed it to 30 days. Selection is sketchy.

We also have a couple of places here in Salt Lake that recondition batteries. They usually go for 50-60 dollars, and have a 12 month free replacement. You may want to scour the phone book (ha ha ha) for reconditioners.

Optimas are pieces of shit now. They used to be awesome but I have personally dealt with multiple brand new dead ones, or ones that died within a year...just no. Stay away.

I have a Duralast Platinum AGM in my trail rig for three reasons: it will never spill if the truck gets tipped over, it doesn't vent acid fumes and corrode the battery terminals like typical batteries do, and I can run my winch for hours with the engine shut off. It was only like $120 after some coupons I had... twice the price of a cheapo battery, I don't care about the lifespan, if it lasts for 4-5 years it will be WELL worth the price simply for the reasons stated above.

My other vehicles all get the $25 reconditioned batteries from Interstate. They are just as good as a new battery.
