Scan Gauge 2 and my 1996 Ranger

OK first off sorry for starting two threads in one day but I've become interested in efficiency. I was looking at a scan gauge (http://cgi.ebay.com/ScanGauge-II-Scan-Gauge-Guage-Gage-ScanGuage-w-X-Gauge_W0QQitemZ250473280183QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_2?hash=item3a515ef2b7&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14) but then i saw that it lists "Ford Explorer and Ranger - No Speed, Distance or Fuel Economy information (MPH, MPG, Miles driven). " And i thought that was a little odd. Is it for all years? or just 1997...cuz it looks like its kinda under the 1997 category. Is there anyone out there with a 1996 ranger (4.0? if that makes a difference) who has a scan gauge? and if so does everything work? Thanks. Also does anyone know why explorers and rangers might not work?

Just another useless product that will probably have decent sales. You can calculate fuel economy by dividing how many gallons of gas you put in your truck by how many miles you have driven for that tank. It may scan codes, but you could get that done for free at autozone. You aren't going to find a scan-tool for less than $1200, and that's probably used.

These are great scan-tools. Here's the main question. What are you trying to do with a code reader or scan-tool? Or were you just looking at it for the fuel economy and other functions like that?
