sbc in a ranger?

i will ask him exactly what year it was next time i see him

A 307 was a 327 crank (3.25) in a block with the same boar as a 283 (3.875).
A 305 was a 350 crank (3.48) in a block with a boar of 3.736.

(facepalm)

i should know this. but im only 18, cant be expected to know everything :D

thanks blackwidow. I got the hedman s10 swap headers...hopefully they work. I hope i can bolt them on tonight, but they still haven't showed up. I will for sure get get some pics up after i get some. oh and how do you build a 302 out of a 350 block????:icon_confused:

well I think you take a 265/283 crank and put it in a 350 block(4 in. bore), as far as the rods and pistons, I dont know, I still have a LOT of research to do, and this will be on down the road(I was going to swap in a 350 too but it dind't work out):bawling:Oh yea and I think the 265/283 crank might have a different bearing size, so I would have to figure that out too...:icon_confused:

seriously. the 302 was a 327 with a 283 crank.

the headers don't fit blackwidow!:bawling:
well, they will, I just have to grind some of the frame away first. I think long tube headers might have worked better just because the collectors on these short headers are hitting the frame rail. I'm out of town right now but I will be back on Friday to get them mounted up

Whoops!!! didn't know that:dunno:the reason I want a 302 SBC is because in the future I kind of want a DD/nice truck to be powerful, unique, and not eat AS much fuel as a 350, 351w, ect., and also because of the 4.00 bore(so I could use "350" heads)

Crap. Looks like Im spending the extra on some long tubers.

Sorry bro. How bad do they hit? Do they clear the steering box?

yeah they clear the steering box fine, it's the passenger side that's being a PITA believe it or not

weird. i thought the d.side would be the PITA. but how bad do you have to notch the frame?

The driver's side won't have to be notched too bad, but for the p. side that's a different story. I'll hold it up there and get some pics for you when i get back home. I think the frame is going to have to be notched no matter what headers i use just because of where my motor is sitting...kinda sucks but oh well, just one more step i guess.

sorry to hear that bro. yeah im going to dish out the extra and get the long tube ones for mine.

yeah pics will be great please.

yeah it's all good, i'll just flip the headers upside down and run stacks through the hood :icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

i ordered a different set of headers, the long tube ones and they should be here tomorrow, so I'll see if those fit any better...I'll let you know on Sunday how they fit!

Awesome man, did you return the short ones?

Pics would be great, thanks
