Cookie is my new Autumn Brown 1988 Ranger STX. I am not super mechanically inclined however I'm looking forward to learning as I go and I have a bunch of knowledgeable mechanic types in my neighborhood. As soon as Cookie rolled into the driveway, 3 of them were surrounding her looking under the hood.

She runs fairly well but she'll need some work. Enter YouTube.

If anyone has replaced the following I'd appreciate ANY tips. Alternator, Parking Brake, Horn, PCV, Thermostat, removing key from ignition - no; seriously.

Cookie,

All RBV's should be so lucky as to have a lighted Lund cab visor ..)

Check the horn fuse. Disconnect the battery before pulling the alternator. PCV is almost a flat tip screwdriver job. I recommend getting help with the parking brake. The T stat is just a tight, clustered area, very strait forward.

Last time I did an ignition tumbler on one of these it was just tedious not complicated, how ever I did not have the key stuck in it. If you are replacing the tumbler, you may need the key out 1st, I don't know.

Welcome, be patient, then drive out to The Haystack and show off your beautiful truck, it looks like a HiRider!!!

Welcome to TRS! Is it a manual transmission? If so there's a button underneath the steering column you have to push to rotate it completely back to remove the key. Auto with column shifters sometimes jiggling the shifter will help get them out... if auto with floor shifter should be same as manual trans!
