So I came out of my office at 11:45 last night, drove around the corner (52nd Ave. and Ward Rd. in Wheat Ridge, a Denver suburb) and this is what I found:

A bit scary, but nobody was inside, so I guess they rolled the car and ran away. Lights on, KS107.5 (hip hop) playing, but no driver. The police and fire department came quickly and were pretty low-key, so maybe it happens all the time.

But the late-'90s Acura Integra must be somewhat safe, as you can roll it (while drunk most likely), open the door and run away before anyone comes to bust you!

Damn! That's crazy. It's always kinda weird when you see something like that. At least you didn't see something horrible when you looked inside. Hopefully if the driver was drunk, he or she learned their lesson and won't do that anymore.

I know wheat ridge ...... I hate that TA truck stop.....

This one time ........ when I lived in Spokane (and this one time at band camp) a drunk chick in a jeep smashed into the tree in my front yard, left the engine running and ran away. She must have been bleeding pretty good because there where pieces of scalp and strands of hair embedded in the windshield..... took 1.5 hours for the police to show up.

The other weird thing was as I was driving home I heard the accident mentioned on the traffic report on the midnight newscast on KOA (850 AM), maybe 15 minutes after I first got to the scene. I guess they pay attention to those scanners.

I would bet that drugs/alcohol/stolen car may have been involved. And listening to loud hip-hop music while you drive will make you drive stoopid!

Listening to loud hip hop........ pretty much makes you stupid in general.

It happens with alcohol/drugs/ police chase........ I mean who hasn't wrecked there car then ran to the nearest bar to report their car stolen? I don't know what happened, my dd was on the way and I looked up and my car was just gone.......

i have a friend whos a firefighter in wheatridge and some of the stories he's told me about the calls they get are insane. at least once a week there is a serious wreck at the red lobster off wads and 38th- dont know why, maybe the location???? it seems like whenever i'm down there plowing snow or mowing lawns that there is always sirens going off.

I see wrecked an rolled cars abandon all the time in Alaska. Usually about 3 or 4 every time I drive the highway... Mostly cause people can't drive in the winter, the car starts sliding and they either don't realize it till its sideways or they do the exact opposite of what they should have done to prevent it...

I've only been in College 2 days and I see an average of 3 wrecks a day here... Going from a small town to a big town. I drive my truck as little as possible for fear it might get pummled by an idiot and get totalled... that and to save warm up time and gas.
