SAS Steering 98+

Ive got a 99 Im doing a swap on and need help figuring out how to mount up a box. Ive heard yota box but I want stay on the inside of the frame rail. I bought a 93 ranger box but its six inches wide and frame is only 4.5. Pics of or suggestions on sas 98+ steering boxes would be awesome.

Pretty much everyone who does a 98+ SAS goes with an outer frame mounted box. why do you want to use an inner frame box?

I thought that if I kept it on the inside I wouldnt have as long of a tie rod to pitman arm and it would be a straight shot on the steering shaft making less slop in the steering.

I believe that a longer drag link would be preffered so that you can keep it more parallel to the ground and get less bump steer.

Then again, if you can get the trac bar to line up exactly with the drag link by doing it one way or the other, then go with that.

i guess i need to see it. I was just thinking that if I could find a way to mount an earlier ranger box on the inside that it would be easier. If anyone has pics of how they mounted either way up that would be great. Ive got everything cut off and everything bought but want to figure some things out before i start putting stuff on. This is one of the only things that I have struggled to find info on.

This has also been a thought of mine. I would like to see pics of how you do yours and a list of what you use for parts (box, pump, etc.)

Went to the junk yard and bought a 1990 nissan power steering pump. Fits on the frame rail like it was made for the truck. Its starting to make sense now. Only thing im unsure of is how to run the power steering hoses from the box to the pump. the hoses were cut off the box i bought but they are different on the end of the box than they are on the ranger.

The only one I've seen up here used a late 70's ford truck/bronco box outside the frame. Seemed to work fine.
