need coil help,I have a 93 ext cab ranger 4.0l with sas.The problem is a have 3.5 progressive rate eb coil and the diff is only about 1.5 - 2 inches away from the engine crossmember, which a dont want to cut.on big bumps the diff will hit, can anyone tell me what coil to change to,was thinking about 5.5 eb super flex coils. any help would be great.

There's 3 solutions to the issue:

Cut the crossmember, it's not as load bearing in an SAS as with TTB.

Install bumpstops and keep the truck at current height.

Install the 5.5" coils, then work out the rear suspension.

Lot's have used the 5.5" coils without issue, definately worth using if you go that route.

Thanks for the help, going to order the 5.5 coils, which ones are everyone useing or just get eb superflex ones.

i would g with a liner rate not a progressive rate eb coil. they do better off road but have less road manners just a thot and tend to have more up travel.

I have the eb superflex 5.5". IDE just keep ur 3.5 because I was still close to the crossmember and cut the front part off

Have you wheeled with both linear and progressive springs? I read a lot of guys saying that a linear rate coils is better, and still don't understand why. Either way, you said a linear coil will provide more up travel, which this guy doesn't want.

I would (did) cut up the crossmember. BUT if you don't mind a super high lift then go with the 5.5" coils. like you said, pretty much any EB coil will do the job.
