i just bought a dana 44 and i have been collecting the parts i will need to complete the swap. I am just wondering how much wider it will be. My truck is my daily driver so if the tires sticks out a ft wider on each side it will be problematic. Does anyone have pictures they could post to give me an idea of what i will be working with????
Please help
thanks gabe

A FW D44 axle is 6 inches wider so you will be sticking out each side 3 inches min. and thats not including running larger/wider tires either.

so what you are sayin is i should cut it. so cut the passenger side like 6 in?

depends on what wheels your using. i have a 8.8 explorer axle under my truck right now, with stock steely rims which have a centered backspacing and 35's mounted. i just finished the brakes on my full width d60 from an f250 and rolled it behind my truck with the stock wheels with 31's that were on the f250 and theres only a 1.5-2" diff on each side because of the backspacing and the tire width.

I cut it 5" and sent the axle shaft of to be cut by Dutchmen Axles. The axle should be under my truck in a couple of weeks :) i will post lots of pics!!
