SAS 95% complete, flex shots

THE Deed is done! Almost, Drive line, brake lines and steering to be finished!

4" lift leaf springs for an explorer, 6" shackle sitting on 34x9.5 tsl's

I don't think it's too high,, It sure settled down from when it was at droop! And flexes really well! better after the 63" rear spring swap.

I don't know anything about sas design but i really like it man , awesome truck good work
 
it's a Hp dana 44 from a 78 or 79 3/4 ton ford. The rear dana 60 is hopefully going in in a week or two.

no abuse yet, still have a lot of work to do! Right now my goal is to just get it on the road. then i'll start making it more trail ready.

The truck settled down more than i thought it would so I had to re drill the rear perch to get the correct shackle angle i want to run.

Definately one of the cleaner leaf sprung SAS's I've seen done in a while. Looks good!
 
why did you choose to run the shackles in the front?

and what are you doing with the TTB parts?
 
x2 on being a clean sas. i have to ask though, why are you running your u-bolts the way you have them?

well I had those on hand. It was brought up to me in a different forum too. So i'm going to make some plates and swap them to round ones after i get the rear swap all done, i'll order all 8 u-bolts at the same time. and also i need to shim the front axle a bit so they'll come off then anyhow. I'm going to get the truck on the road first, that's my over riding goal right now, then i'll tweak and tune!:icon_thumby:

why did you choose to run the shackles in the front?

well The reason I decided to run them up front was to keep the leafs as level to the ground as possible (cannot run the shackle in the back and keep level with how the frame contours) hoping i wouldn't have to shim the axle too much to keep a good pinion angle and that's exactly what i got. I'm not sure yet, but i may need to run a panhard bar to keep the truck road worthy. we'll see once it's on the road.

As far as the old lift parts go.... I've already had lots of pm's. I'm going to sell them local and as a package deal with the d35.


For brake lines... decided I'm going to drop it to the center of the axle to a junction, then run them out to the knuckle, to rubber lines. kind of like the rear axle. With the amount of flex i think it'll just be easier and less problem causing.
