Truck will start 2 or 3 times, while running the voltage gauge is a little to the high side and shaking. If you keep trying to start the truck it will go dead and nothing will work. After a while you can try it again and it will start. If water gets in the altenator will it fry its circuits?

Your volt guage will read high if your using the starter alot. You cant troublshoot the charging system if the engine is not running proper. Fully charge the battery and then see if it runs ok. It sounds like you cleaned the engine compartment and yes water in the alternator will possibly do some damage and low voltage will make it run like crap. You can take the alternator up to the part store and have it tested along with the battery. The alternator can ruin the battery and visa versa along with the voltage regulator in the alternator. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/chargingsystem.htm If you know how to use a VOM here is a link for troubleshooting the charging system and getting the proper voltage for diagnosing the engine if need be. Pulling the codes cant hurt they can pull them at the part store or you can using the tech library.

It runs fine while it is running but if you shut it off and restart it a couple of times it will eventually not crank anymore. No lights, no buzzer, no electrical power what so ever. Then if you wait a little while it will crank right up.

Sounds like a bad or corroded connection. As it's intermittant and only when loaded it might be hard to find.

Clean all your grounds good sand them metal to metal battery chassis engine and computer. also pos on the battery if you see black on the battery post or terminals either clean or replace them. If your overcharging the battery you will burn something out fix it as soon as possible. Dont just guess it is ok either make sure its right or have someone else check it for you I gave you the link for the tech library use it. Read it all the way thru everything is pointing to power make sure it is right before it cost a bunch of money or a breakdown in the stix.
