So my 08 has over 300k miles on it. The windshield is not the original buts its probably got 200k of that on it. Due to the upright nature of our vehicles windshield, the get chipped and scratched pretty easy. Mine is kinda sandblasted. It makes it hard to see through at times especially at night. I dont really want to throe $200+ at this truck right now for a new windshield. Does anyone know of a way to "polish" the glass to get the windshield reasonably clear? Preferably using normal compounds and such, not expensive kits. Thanks.

I haven’t seen anything. Some window treatments help but last long.

Check for airplane windshield scratch removal, very common issue on airplanes, because of the speed, and way more expensive to replace these windows, lol

I remember reading "banana oil" or something like that worked, but you have to reapply it often, so not a "fix" just a "it works for now", lol
I think glass can be polished as well to remove superficial marks

My Ranger had the same problem. The glass was 'pitted' and there were deep 'scuff marks' where the wipers went. It was just standard wear and tear. I tried cleaning it, buffing it, waxing it etc. but nothing worked. Had to replace it.

Guys, thanks for the ideas. My windshield looks like its dirty all the time, It will need to be replaced before next summer as it has a crack that will not pass inspection here in NY. But Id like to improve it for the winter. Between the crappy headlights and the bad windshield, night driving can be quite the challenge. Lots of deer here too lately. Dont wanna hit one. I will give it a go with some compounds that I have today. Ill start with a small section in the corner. Ill report back with results.

Just a foliow up. Nothing I did made any difference. Looks like new glass is in my future.

That was what I was afraid off. Good luck.
