I see where everyone that has done the Saginaw pump conversion has the older trucks with the steering gear box. Anybody done this pump upgrade to a newer rack and pinion ranger? Will the Saginaw pump work with the rack and pinion? Looking at using the psc adapter and running a Saginaw on my 99 2.5 truck but want to make sure it will work correctly with the rack and pinion. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Me too..... bump.

Just stumbled on your thread. Anyone wanna enlighten me about this upgrade? I only ask because I have a ’92 Ranger that has a whiny PS pump and may have a bad gearbox (it clunks several times when cranking the wheel all the way in either while parked).

Thanks!

The Saginaw pump upgrade is mostly for HD stuff. Large tires, off-road, etc. The Saginaw pumps were used in a lot of older Fords, Chevys, and Dodges.

It requires a custom bracket be made, custom lines, and a longer belt, among other things.
