Hey, new here but I've been browsing the forums for about a year now...but there's an introduction board for that, right?

Anyway, just real quick, I wanna make sure I'm right before I do any more work than needed.

11 months ago, I replaced the clutch in my 96 2.3. About 2 days ago, I'm driving, and my truck isn't wanting to shift. I'm having to damn-near use both hands to get into first. Starting it, it makes a horrible grinding. If I'm stopped in first, it acts like it's wanting to stall.

I still have pedal pressure, and fluid isn't seeping up on the floorboard. Am I right in the assumption that it's a garbage slave cylinder?

Thanks

Could be the slave, but could also be the floorboards. Check where the master sticks out of the firewall to see if there is any thing more than should be there...and check for rust or even that the bolts are actually holding it in place.

There is also a bleed screw on the slave that you can crack and have someone pump the clutch a few times and hold it in before you close the bleeder (top up reservoir first) and then refill reservoir.

Watch your eyes...put a line on the bleeder into a jar if you can before hand...brake fluid is nasty stuff.
