When I see these covers out on the town, they look both perfectly fitting and unique at the same time. If it were solid stripes, it'd be a gawdy super car or ricer thing. I don't see them too awful often and they're always in a "classic" type car, but they're definitely not a rarity. Not sure how they'd match a "modern" car tho.

I'm guessing they originated from horse blankets, but horses got phased out in... what... the 20's or 30's? That's a solid 2 generations ago... an eternity for a style/fad/fashion. Anyone have an idea of the history of this style?

Seat gets worn out. Throw old saddle blanket over seat to cover the mess. Same as using an old bed sheet or towel.

Slip on seat covers are invented. people like the texture so/ look they use that design.

I have seat covers on my ranger with a saddle blanket pattern/ material. Had one on the bench of my old F150.

Horses are not phased out, they are just obsolete. Like SBCs with a carb. People mostly keep them as a hobby now. Fill in their free time and soak up their extra cash with the maintenance. :)

i like those saddle blanket covers. i have had them on a few vehicles but they are getting hard to find since vehicles have seem to gotten away from bench seats.

Not really, they do fill a niche that so far nothing mechanical can fill.

Out west they are still very popular for working cattle. They can go over terrain nothing with wheels can, can swim and fuel literally grows everywhere.

Farming with horses was fairly common into the 50's, they had really no competition for cattlework until ATV's became common in the 80's-90's.

But yeah, most are money pits... my parents have two that are not even broke to ride.

I figured there were still a good use for them.
Around here we don’t have any large ranches. I only no of a few working horses.

That said most farms are not much bigger then 10 acres. You have a lot of big money people with pet horses.

We have a horse park where youput your horse in your $30k trailer and hook it up to your $100k truck, go 10 miles down the road, and take your horse for a walk in the woods.

My wife is horse person. Luckily I have nowhere to keep one. :)

You can get them for bucket seats. There are a few seat cover brands that offer them. At about $200 for a set last I checked.

I see cowboys here in Texas hauling their horse to go to work.

When we got our GSP the breeder had two horses on the property as well. He was keeping them for his daughter and said he's never seen anything turn cash into poop more efficiently.
