Sad news for us....

I have to take my 21 year old orange tabby boy in today and give him his eternal sleep. He just started going downhill this week. He has been doing so well. But....I am not going to let him suffer. He has been the greatest cat in the world. All of of our family and friends have said they can't believe how sweet and affectionate he is. He always comes out to greet people and wants to play with everybody. He was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid gland three months ago and was on meds for it. The last two weeks he started to loose weight and he will hardly eat anything now. My vet said it was expecteds due to his age and she was happy he lived as long as he has. So...got to do it this morning.

Man! Sorry to hear that! 21 years old!! It takes a lot of strength to do what is right! (My daughter has let her poodle linger on for a year...it's very sad to see a pet lose all it's looks & ability to be happy & just struggle ti be alive).

Pets deserve to get their "rest" after being faithful for so long...............


Reminds me of what Jesus (no....not Hey-soos) said...."A man's treasures will be where his heart is...therefore store your riches (that means things close to your heart) in Heaven where they (will be made new) last forever...

Sorry to hear that though Stray. Our cat died 2 years ago that was around 21-22 years old. She was a Tabby too. We've had 2 "replacement" cats that just don't compare.

That is sad to hear

It is amazing how attached a guy can get to a little ball of fluff. Counting the one I have now I have had three "good cats". When I lose one I tell myself there is no way another can compete, give it awhile and somehow another finds us and takes root.

Thanks, guys. The kind words help. I took him in to the vet's just before 9:00 and spent time in the 'peaceful room' with him. At 9:31 he passed away in my arms just about two min. after they administered the meds. He looked up at me and I swear I saw joy...yes, joy in his eyes!!! He looked right at me into my eyes and it looked like he smiled at me. He reached his right leg up to touch my left cheek and then he just relaxed and it was over. Our Vet even cried. She said to me "My God, Stray, he smiled! I swear he did! He loved you so much'. Man....It has been a long time since I cried, but tears came down my check. He will be cremated like all the others that have past over the years. He will be in his own wooden box with his name on it and put in my music room.
