So i found out that I might have to park the ranger for awhile because it wont smog and no funds. So i figured i could just save up for a 4.0 and the goodies to go with it. But i dont wanna park her in the garage:bawling:

you still have to pass smog for an 86....that blows. wish i could help

That sucks man. But sometimes we must suffer for love.
Yeah but i just hate for one not having something to drive and for two not having my truck. But there isn't much I can do I guess.

Yeah the smog cut off here in awesome california is pre 75 or 76 im not sure but im aways off either way.And if you had a 4.0 laying around that would definately be a start:icon_thumby:

I've been without a functioning vehicle for like, 2 months now. Feels like 2 years. I got ahold of a truck, then the engine shat itself and now needs a good bit of work.

So at least yours runs :icon_thumby:

just go to one of those "guys" that just turns a blind eye to that. I have a friend in cali with a 240sx with no cats and a imported turbo motor and his "passed"

I vote for this idea. Exploit the wickedness of the system in your favor!

Threads like these do make me glad to live in a state with no vehicle testing whatsoever. :D

you and me both man. we still have to get inspected but mine hasnt been in a year and the only thing they test is your lights horn and window tint.

Funny how things differ thoughout the country. Here in Alabama they dont smog check your vehicle. Hell as long as you have insurance on it they dont care what you drive. They dont even inspect vehicles even to get a tag. Not uncommon at all to see a skeeter eater going down the road. You know, A car that smokes so bad you cant see anything behind it. BUT as of a couple days ago we do have the toughest immigration law in the country.

how about registering your truck in an other state

That tends to cause a big awkward moment when you get caught though...

Usually those that don't have a way to get around the regs report those that dodge them with much eagerness. :icon_thumby:

Nebraska has gawd awful registration fees, people register out of state to try to get around them... it isn't pretty when they get caught.

I've driven in your state. It's the scariest thing I've ever done. And my driving has almost literally made a soldier piss himself while I was laughing.

To the OP, run some seafoam through the intake, put a bottle of Lucas fuel treatment in the tank, and then, with the engine running at temp, mist some water through the intake system.

We are talking running a 12 oz bottle through at a mist over 10 minutes or so running above idle, not pointing a Super Soaker 2200 down the intake and letting her rip.

I have seen this technique take PA cars that don't pass the dyno/sniffer test and get them to pass. Our emissions tests and regs in the Pittsburgh and Philly areas aren't too far from Cali standards.

I treat every street I drive on as a track in Death Race, because it's nearly happened a number of times. Wouldn't change it for the world tho, keeps ya on your toes. :D

That's great. It's got danged dangerous to have 4 lanes of traffic running at 70 MPH and only half the cars have any working brake lights.

I was in Atlanta. You are in a much less urban area.
