SAD decision

You know the cars you always see at a demolition derby?? Most of them originated from Alabama.. Ive got an aunt and uncle who live in Fairchance, PA. Funny, they say the same thing about driving here as you do. :yahoo: I had a friend here who drove a truck with an expired Texas tag for 7 years and nobody noticed. He never did get caught and finally sold the truck. And as far as driving 70 with no brakes lights they do it in nascar every weekend. You just learn not to tailgate anyone down here.

That's great. It's got danged dangerous to have 4 lanes of traffic running at 70 MPH and only half the cars have any working brake lights.

I was in Atlanta. You are in a much less urban area.

I've driven in most metropolitan areas in this state, Atlanta is the worse. Augusta isn't as bad, but still bad. The rest of the state is just filled with idiots who come out of nowhere. Smaller town doesn;t equal safety. At all. And Tallahassee in Florida is just full of morons and middle/upper class people who don't use their blinker then glare at you as if they're gonna sue you for being in their spot in the lane they merged into without looking.

That tends to cause a big awkward moment when you get caught though...

Usually those that don't have a way to get around the regs report those that dodge them with much eagerness. :icon_thumby:

Nebraska has gawd awful registration fees, people register out of state to try to get around them... it isn't pretty when they get caught.

That's why i am glad i drive such an old truck. Only costs me $60 to renew, where as my moms 04 E-350 van still costs about $350 :shok:

When I got a tag and registration for the Mazda it cost me 20. Don't remember what the Ranger's cost but I can't imagine it was much more.

That is the one reason I won't move to Cali. Smog.
Yeah i hate that we even have smog.
I've been without a functioning vehicle for like, 2 months now. Feels like 2 years. I got ahold of a truck, then the engine shat itself and now needs a good bit of work.

So at least yours runs :icon_thumby:
Yeah it runs but damn is it rough.
how about registering your truck in an other state
I've thought about that but it would suck to get caught.
just go to one of those "guys" that just turns a blind eye to that. I have a friend in cali with a 240sx with no cats and a imported turbo motor and his "passed"
Where's this guy at?lol
did you pull the codes to see what might be wrong with it? sorry you have to park it.
I haven't done that yet but ive done pretty much everything i can do without pulling the hunk a junk the call a motor apart.

My 2002 F-150 is $65, has been ever since I bought it in '05. I think the Ranger runs somewhere in the $35 neighborhood. :yahoo:

My Ranger costs $58 a year. The Bronco is $32. Here it goes by class (Truck, sedan, coupe, wagon) not age or value.

You're right. It's usually worse without all those lights and traffic to slow people down.

I live outside a small town and regularly have idiots fly by me when I'm walking to dogs. I used to stand in the middle of the lane to force them to slow down, when the dogs were small enough that my wife could hold on to both. Usually worked since in PA the pedestrian has the right of way and I was under no legal obligation to move over for them.

Yeah, I don't tailgate. And a public highway is not a NASCAR track.

I tried to leave an appropriate 4 to 6 car lengths between me and the next car but was wholly unable due to the other drivers that kept filling up the space in front of me.

Ill agree that a public road isnt a nascar track but thats how people drive down here. My work truck is a F-650 which weighs in at almost 26,000 lbs so I am real careful just how close I get to anyone but you still have plenty of fools who will cut you off and jam on the brakes to turn. About three years ago I had some fool tried to cross the road while I was one it. He hit me just behind the drivers door and I ended up running over his truck and that in turn flipped mine. Nothing like rollin something that big and heavy. Thankfully we both walked away pretty much unscathed by the grace of God. DOT in Bama is the weakest in the country. All you need to get a drivers liscense is 25 bucks and pass a simple road test.
