rusty yotas...again!

There is that "legendary reliability" they are always talking about.:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

how can toyota last after having to buy back so many trucks? thats gotta hurt them big time

i find it funny how many stereotype the "american rustbucket". oh haha? well guess what... your "holy grail of crapanese quality" has MAJOR rust issues, most far worse than american iron...

you should see my 99 chrysler that has a rust problem that effect 1 out of 4 that should have been recalled........ how about that American quality.....

My old 99 Ranger had two cracks in the frame. Numerous people on here have to replace the leaf spring hangers. The rear bumper brackets and spare tire carrier were also rusted out on that truck. It all depends where you live and whether you take care of your truck or not. I wouldn't blame Ford or Toyota, i'd be blaming the state.

As the last two posters said, this isn't exactly a Toyota specific problem. Rather than pointing the blame at Japanese manufacturers, seems to me we should be looking at how they handled it as an example. They're buying back the trucks at 150% of the best blue book value per KBB. Seems like they're taking care of the customer pretty well.

Steel is steel, right? It's the same stuff from one automaker to the next, isn't it? If this is incorrect, someone please educate me.

Without keeping the under body clean and protected, I don't see how road salt from a few winters wouldn't rot any vehicle.

for the 30 or 40 or even 50 or 60 grand some of these Toyotas cost you would think better undercoating would come on them.

as far as the rust on my Chrysler ......... they are from the rust belt, they know about the salty winter roads. they kew the crappy design was going to have a rust problem in key structural support areas ...... they did it anyways and didn't weather proof it. Atleast Toyota is taking care of their customers...... What is Chrysler doing about their design flaw ...... the designed a patch that the owner of the vehicle has to pay $500 a side to get done at the dealer.....

I would rather do business with the japs.

It not a brand problem, all have issue's.

But how they look after you ( after sale's Service) say's alot about them. no matter what brand you have.

And yes it's going to cost them. but how much is another matter, ( if a company is going to look after things well ) they will retain the customer. and may get more if the customer tell's others ( how well they looked after them )

But company X does nothing, and leaves everyone out to dry, Could cost them alot more. Just think about it a bit. If you yourself get's looked after well. where is your next purchase coming from.

If they leave you hanging ( where is your purchase going ????????? )

to me it seems like those trucks in the recall are fairly new to be having a rust problem that bad. im not sure how bad other fast other cars rust though up north
