rusty yotas...again!

for the 30 or 40 or even 50 or 60 grand some of these Toyotas cost you would think better undercoating would come on them.

I didn't think that any vehicle came from the factory with any type of undercoating. I thought it was something you either had to get raped by the dealership for, or do it yourself. But I'm no expert on it, partially because I do all my frame cleaning/undercoating myself.

It not a brand problem, all have issue's.

But how they look after you ( after sale's Service) say's alot about them. no matter what brand you have.

And yes it's going to cost them. but how much is another matter, ( if a company is going to look after things well ) they will retain the customer. and may get more if the customer tell's others ( how well they looked after them )

But company X does nothing, and leaves everyone out to dry, Could cost them alot more. Just think about it a bit. If you yourself get's looked after well. where is your next purchase coming from.

If they leave you hanging ( where is your purchase going ????????? )

I agree with this. They're handling it the best way they can, which is biting the bullet, admitting they screwed up, and correcting it. Nobody wants the stigma of a recall, but it happens to every company from time to time. They're saving face by handling it the way they are.

to me it seems like those trucks in the recall are fairly new to be having a rust problem that bad. im not sure how bad other fast other cars rust though up north

I thought they said it was 2000-2003 models. That's more than enough time for rust to spread.

you notice that the american manufacturers are the ones with money trouble and the japs have no problem buying back 10 year old trucks due to frame rust. our company only uses tacomas and we lost alot of them due to the recall but that paid for brand new ones. and we drive the $hit out of them. my stores got 5 tacomas, all 06's with over 150k on them

also did anyone read about the boat full of mazdas that tipped over back in summer? i saw a picture of all the cars they had to crush. that was a lot of new cars they just had to eat! half of them didnt even looked damaged

When salt is involved, any metal is fair game. Even if it is undercoated. That too will evently fail and subcome to its dismies. I guess its a good thing that I live more south and out of the salt road belt. My Ranger has surface rust on the frame. But nothing that will eat it away. My grandpa on the other hand lives in New York. His dang winter rats may only last 3 years before something gives or falls off. I worked on the brakes and muffler this last June. And rust already ate through his brake lines. Muffler only lasted 2 years.

how can toyota last after having to buy back so many trucks? thats gotta hurt them big time

Not when almost all of the owners buy another Toyota/

I would like you "japanese haters" to research where Toyota sourced the frames steel. Then take a picture of your face.

ya know..even the best steel rusts. Its called the natural oxidation of metal. It'd be better to consider the quality of the PAINT and how good of a job was done PAINTING the steel to keep the water and moisture that caust rust AWAY from the metal (which yes I know salt will eat but ya know..a good rinse off does wonders). That also answers your mopar problems..they're known for their paint problems.

i never said american vehicles were impervious to rust. i was pointing out how many rice loving faggots seem to think that their precious toyota and other jap crap vehicles are free from all the issues that plague our american ones...

The problem with the Toyota frames was the AMERICAN company that was treating the metal. They did a crap job and more and more vehicles that are affected are showing up.

They no longer have the contract.

hey you guys can rag on yotas all you want but im a strong believer, i mean i am most deffinantly a ford/mazda guy but i do have the balls to admit that those god damn little rusty old yota are f'ing amazing trucks, ill admit a rusty ol yota stock will go through more shit than my ranger anyday...its just how they are and id love to have one but there expensive as hell around here so i settled for a ranger...which i fell in love with lol
