Rusty coolant

So for an update, my coolant is leaking from the timing cover and i was shown the leak. The mechanic also agreed that it did look like there was some kind of sealer stoping the leak. I will be doing the flush next week or asap. Is there a detailed description on how to do the flush properly somewhere, i want to do it myself? I am crossing my fingers that when i complete the flush and drain all the sealer out that my head gasket is blown. Is that likely or would i be experiencing major problems either way?
Items i need to do the flush?"please note if there are any more parts to replace in the process of this
-Rad cap
-thermostat
-radiator flush
-proper coolant
