Pick up some Mapp Gas. The cylinder looks the same as the propane one, but it's yellow and the flame burns way hotter than propane: no comparison. I bought a Bernzomatic set for about $28.00 with 16 oz. cylinder included (the torch is also different than for propane so you need that). I've had an acetyline/oxygen setup for years, but find that the Mapp gas does the trick for small to medium projects.

Uhm...not really a viable option....

I'm not talking about those lil torches with the dinky 1lb cylinders, I'm talking about a full blown cutting/welding torch set, oxy-acetalyne. To fill my oxygen tank it's about $20. To fill my smaller actelyne tank, it's about $74. To run propane I have to use an adaptor, 20lb or larger propane tank (gas grille size), and buy a different tip. But it's cheaper to fill a 20Lb propane tank than my actelyne tank.
