Rust removal

What's the easiest way to remove rust without using grinders, brushes etc...any chemical or solvent besides clr that might work? I just wan't to clean it up a bit in order to paint the underside to prevent. Further rusting. Any caveats? Things. Should look out for? Tools that might help...tips etc lol.

Tools that might help:
Grinders, brushes, cut off wheel, sawzall.

Tips:
Wear safety glasses, gloves and a mask.

The chemicals. I would like to know myself.

EDIT - okay, okay, I'll be more specific - I have used the loctite brand rust converter with EXCELLENT results. My old Ranger was rusty, and this stuff stopped it in it's tracks, and it stayed good for 3 years until I sold it.

Leave a few bucks one night for the rust fairies. Should be all good in the morning.

Lol yea think I saw them use something like that on the power block. I'm looking to remove enough to prime and paint over. Not really for show so complete removal isn't priority number one, plus I have to be able to do this at home lol.

For The Win.

a bit expensive, but well worth it. They sell a starter kit for about $20, the small can in the kit goes an amazingly long way. If you like how it works, spring for a full quart.

Sorry, to me that is like asking "How do I cleanly and nicely dice this tomato without any sort of cutting implement?"

Nah more like how do I cleanly and nicely dice this tomato without a knife...plenty of tools that will get the job done. A knife is the most time consuming and requires the most work but is cheaper than say buying a machine or tool that will make the job easier or faster.

6" wire brush on a grinder is how I'd do it. But you put grinders out in your first post.

hmm maybe a wire wheel isn't so bad, i was originally thinking like something to soften it up you know? maybe spend an afternoon working off as much as i can with a chemical, and the following day go over it quickly with something else like a grinder/sander etc...That way I don't waste too much time, effort, or money on wheels and sandpaper lol.

A good stiff wire wheel is probably the best and fastest way overall.
