I have the chance to get some running boards off a newer ranger/ or explorer and I was wondering if they would fit on my 83, or if I would have to modify them?:icon_confused: Anybody got and ideals? Thanks:icon_thumby:

you will prolly have to mod them or drill new holes.....or you could just weld em.

those u posted are step bars
u can make the brackets for those

Thanks, I'll post a pic of the actual bars today. I went ahead and got them for 60, they're in really good shape. But I can see I'm going to have to mod them.

I found out they came off a 94 regular cab, anybody got and install diagrams on that?

check my build thread, i have some pics of my step bar mounting brackets there.
it might help u out

These are the ones I got.:headbang:

Got any ideas on how to mount them to a 83?:icon_confused:

nice!! try to see if the mounting brackets work directly to the frame

I just checked it real quick yesterday, haven't really gotten around to messing with them yet, The front one look like the could bolt right to the front cab mounting bracket, but the back ones don't have any thing to hook to. Looks like its mod/fab time. I don't have a welder yet, so I might take to my local guy and see what he would charge me to fab two up. They bolt onto the runner so he could make em bolt right up.

yeah thats how mines are mounted
brackets wejded to the frame and bars bolted to the brackets

I'm gonna take them by the weld shop tomorrow and see what he thinks. I'm going to put herculiner on all of it except the top plastic step and the end plugs to toughen them up a bit.

Do you know where I can find a diagram on how these mount to the 94 rangers? So I can get an idea of where they mount in the front.

no man, no idea on the diagram, i think its not that hard
check out if u can add a bolt to the cab as i did, ti will prevent them to wave up and down

thanks man!!! im doing what i can, with what i have lol
